While we can't tell you exactly what will be covered during your interview, we can provide some tips to put your best foot forward as you sell yourself to our recruiters and interviewers.
Make sure you do your research about Belden. The internet is the first valuable step but also talk to your university leaders, advisors, and career services personnel.
Be sure your resume conveys all the information you want us to know, and never include information that is not true. In addition, make sure everything is spelled correctly. Ask friends, professors, advisors and acquaintances to review your resume; the more eyes the better. Include extracurricular activities, awards, leadership opportunities, and academic and performance milestones and be prepared to discuss every aspect.
Display energy and enthusiasm, and show your true personality. We want to know that you want the position. Be aware of your non-verbal style and communication. Make eye contact with the interviewer, don’t ramble, and listen closel
You are here as much to learn about Belden as we are to learn about you. We both want to make sure that the fit is correct so take this opportunity to ask questions about our organization, how we develop our people, our vision and values, our growth, and our strategy. Ask about the organization, the interviewers’ career path, career opportunities and growth, and the culture. This is all important information that will help you make the best decision about accepting an internship or full-time position.
Remember first impressions make a lasting impression so give your interview the absolute best. Dress appropriately in business professional attire, and make sure everything is clean and pressed. Do not forget to turn off your cell-phone. It is very distracting to hear even the vibration as you receive calls or messages. Don’t be late. Your time is as important as the interviewer’s time. A late arrival makes a bad impression but it also gives you less time to sell yourself for the position. Don’t arrive more than 10 minutes before the scheduled interview time. And if you must cancel or delay your interview, have the courtesy to call the career services department, or our company representative with an explanation.
And finally, be aware of your communication style. Listen intently, don’t interrupt, and answer questions in detail but don’t ramble.
