SERIPLEX® | Belden Industrial Solutions
Belden DEVICEBUS® Cables Offer DifferentCombinations of Data/Clock, Control and/or Power,
Depending On the Applicationand Device
SDSSERIPLEX is a control bus that interconnects simple network sensing and control devices. It utilizes a single cable to interconnect all devices -- regardless of the level of complexity -- and can help reduce overall control system installation and maintenance costs by 50-70%.

SeriplexThe physical layer medium and its operation are unique to SERIPLEX. It transmits multiplexed data serially on a shielded composite cable, which reduces installation time, lowers costs and increases reliability. SERIPLEX is based on an ASIC chip that continuously transmits data in "frames" and allows relative device levels the option of peer-to-peer or master/slave communication. The composite cable construction carries both power and signal pairs of different sizes and electrical characteristics under the same jacket. Data transmission with a SERIPLEX control bus is protected by a large hysteresis, allowing power and data within a single cable without fear of "noise." SERIPLEX is based on a simple operation and robust technology, but utilizes innovative features such as echoing (which provides useful diagnostics not always available in a control system). Although it is not a blazingly fast network (it's maximum network speed is 200kbps with a maximum of 500 nodes and a maximum distance of 5000 ft.), it is efficient and provides performance comparable to other networks, yet it operates on a single cable and at a reduced cost.
