LONWORKS® is a networking platform that was developed to address the performance, reliability, installation and maintenance needs of control applications. The platform is built on an Echelon Corporation protocol for networking devices and operates with media such as twisted pairs, power lines, optical fiber and RF. Product and applications built on top of the platform include embedded machine control, municipal and highway street lighting, HVAC systems, intelligent electricity metering, subway control, stadium lighting, fire detection and suppression systems and speaker and security systems.
